As in previous years, eligible entities could apply for the public competition: national institutions, localities, cities, regions, communities, and public-private partnerships between public authorities and entrepreneurs, educational programs or business organizations.

Private entities that fall within the definition of an SME were also eligible to apply for the category “Responsible and Inclusive Entrepreneurship”, provided that the project they are participating in is not their core business activity (see SME definition: europa.eu).

The competition was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the European Commission, which aims, through national selections, to:

  • recognize and reward successful initiatives to promote entrepreneurship,
  • disseminate good practices and entrepreneurial policies,
  • to raise awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship in society,
  • to inspire and encourage future entrepreneurs.

Among the eight submitted projects, the expert committee unanimously selected two national representatives who will represent Slovenia this year:

  • project “IRDO Certification Scheme and Trainings for the Green Transition” in the category “Supporting Sustainable Transition”
  • project “POPRI – Entrepreneurs of the Future” in the category “Improving the business environment and promoting entrepreneurial spirit”.

Both projects are distinguished by their exceptional commitment to raising awareness, educating and motivating various target groups towards entrepreneurial and sustainable thinking and action. Their achievements demonstrate visible results and long-term effects in their respective fields.

In the next phase, the European Commission will appoint an independent jury (more information: European Enterprise Promotion Awards | Futurium) that will select the finalists from the national applications of all participating countries – one for each category. The finalists will be invited to an award ceremony where the European winners will be announced. The closing event will take place in November 2025 as part of the SME Assembly conference in Copenhagen.
